In this day and age, many acts of kindness go unnoticed. That is why we at Precision Healing and Wellness Center want to recognize an outstanding act of charity and compassion by one of our employees.
A Long Line of Giving
Tiffany Kossow is a Precision Healing and Wellness Center employee specializing in alternative therapies such as acupuncture in Brookfield WI. Born and raised in the upper peninsula of Michigan and southern Wisconsin, the 38-year-old is studying for her master’s degree in acupuncture while raising her young daughter Reagan.
In and out of her professional life, Tiffany is no stranger to helping people. Almost her whole family is involved in caregiving of one type or another:
- Her mother is a retired CNA.
- One of her sisters is an RN.
- One of her sisters is an acupuncturist.
- One of her sisters is a professional babysitter.
- One of her sisters is a vet tech.
- Her brother is married to an activities coordinator in a nursing home.
All five of her siblings are givers, so it is no surprise that Tiffany is, too. However, it is amazing just how far her gift for giving goes.
Discovering Someone Special at Work
Tiffany’s life prepared her for generosity to her clients. It also prepared her for meeting Ron. A long-term client, Ron was struggling with kidney disease, among other health issues. He is also a 72-year-old veteran who bravely served his country, a salty and lively individual who always maintained a wonderful attitude despite his ongoing illness.
The fact was that Ron’s kidney function was down to 10%, and his hopes for getting a donor kidney were dwindling due to his age and other health problems. Along with his hope, his willingness to keep fighting was also fading.
A Drastic Decision
So Tiffany made a decision to undergo the tests to see if she was a match to become his donor. She started planning without Ron’s knowledge, as she understood the process can take time and might not be successful. Although she eventually informed his significant other, she waited until she got the 99% go-ahead to tell Ron that she would give him the kidney he so desperately needed.
On June 16th, the Hines VA performed a kidney transplant with its first living kidney donation. Despite those who tried to dissuade her, Tiffany gave the gift of life to Ron.
Recovering Through Acupuncture in Brookfield WI
Tiffany is recovering using both traditional and holistic medicine. Ron, despite some ongoing health concerns, is also doing well. His recovery is slow, but his new kidney is functioning as it should.
Ron and Tiffany keep in touch, messaging each other several times weekly. Clients and co-workers support Tiffany. She even keeps up with her medical team. Her daughter is also an important part of her recovery. Reagan helps her mother bandage the wound and keeps her company when she needs to be still.
At Precision Healing and Wellness, we would like to recognize Tiffany Kossow for her kindness, bravery and strength. She embodies the spirit of our practice. If you have any questions or comments, please contact us. We are always happy to listen.
